September 2024 review
“I attended a Wellness session held by Claire at Dove Retreat. As soon as I entered the property I could feel the calm, the stillness and the peace of the place. Claire was really welcoming, a lovely person, and I immediately felt comfortable and at ease. The place itself is beautiful, a wide open space where sheep, ponies and goats live alongside each other amidst the wildlife of the area. There was a sense of all are welcome and equally respected. The buildings offered the combination of comfort and style, yet offering an experience of an immersion in nature and stillness.
We sat around the fire-pit, and offered up what we wished to leave behind and set intention for, and then moved through a blissful couple of hours spending time with the goats, horses and sheep. A highlight for me was a sound-bath, facilitated by Claire, who skillfully took us on a a journey through sound.
It was interesting to discover that each person had, by the end of the morning, moved further in their understanding and transformation of what had been named and surrendered to the fire.
I had a wonderful time and would return in a heart-beat for a well-being session, ceremony or simply blissful retreat” B – September 2024

What wonderful weather we are now having in the UK! At long last the ground is dry enough to plan the gardening, the small-holding maintenance and spending lots of beautiful time with the animals. After a long winter of frequent rain, the land here is still boggy and I can’t get into one of the summer shelters for the ponies and our dear donkey yet, but there is so much to be grateful for. This blog is inspired from a four day clinic with like-minded souls and kindred spirits, and plenty of gorgeous horses too. My time spent in Devon last weekend reminded me of what it was like to really smile from the heart.
A fairly large group of people were gathered, because they chose to come and had similar passions for, and it won’t just be horses, it’ll be love for animals generally. We all had that in common. There were smiles on faces every way I turned and it was a real tonic. What a joy, and actually nurturing to be a part of this ‘tribe’. For me it was also the land, the woods, the stream, the birds and I also watched a barn owl sitting on a fence post, sunning itself one morning! That was a special moment for sure. We were in Devon, the county of my birth home and I was in my sparkly element watching the amazing horsemanship and smiling was abundant. Some people had brought their own horses and took part, which I found hugely inspiring and on the fourth day I was actually ready to come home and be with my herd. There were friendships formed and support being shared as people got to know each other with much united interests. There was a warm and caring atmosphere that was like a little woodland fire-pit, with bits of stick and timber being added from time to time to keep it alight. A good place for shifting stuckness and finding direction as we listened, watched and learned. About horses and ourselves.
All of this healing energy has been flowing around, inside of me and as it’s moved to the surface, it’s brought enlightenment, helping me see what areas of my life need some attention.
I felt my happiness also glowing from inside, and it felt like bursting out, through smiles. The general energy of all the great stuff happening was mutually shared in that common ground companionship. This was a true therapeutic experience for me and highlighted the benefits of therapy outside in nature. I am already planning to spend more time with like-minded tribes, my herd and enjoying the magic of happiness.
This is where I mention I am reducing social media time to walk, breathe and smile in nature more frequently than ever before. If you would like to come for some nature-based enrichment sessions here with the animals, please do get in touch. My counselling therapeutic services are at http://www.claireryallcounselling.com

Some very interesting and informative scripts that inspire my own journey are below. I highly recommend reading Glennie Kindred’s books. Her latest one due out this spring is mentioned below.
‘This intelligent, wise, creative, and loving “consciousness” floods into our liminal consciousness when we meditate, dream, or use other favourite portals such as music, art, and nature. Liminality is the space and time in between our rational thinking and our mystical and intuitive experiences‘. Edwin E. Olson
‘Between the Worlds is a guide book; an intimate exploration of a journey that begins to unfold when we trust our intuition and the wisdom of our hearts, and expand into a different kind of knowing. Stepping outside of the constraints of our linear, logical world, we enter a different paradigm, a deeper awareness, where all is flowing in interconnected unity.
Between the Worlds is a book about healing the divides, restoration, and reclaiming our liminal awareness. This ultimately leads to healing our relationship with the Earth and all our Earth-kin.
Between the Worlds is a life-affirming love-song to the Earth and to the future.’ Glennie Kindred 2024
‘Unity Consciousness is an experience of inter-connectedness and oneness with all living beings and the universe as a whole. Let the land be the container for the magic.’ the Land, Derbyshire.

Walking in the countryside will lift your spirits, brighten your mood and fill your body with sparkly bubbles, well endorphins actually but if it’s got your attention that’s great! Take a ramble over the top of Corton Denham ridge for breathtaking views at one of our high points. Further a field you can walk on to Corton Denham view point which overlooks miles and miles of Somerset, over to Glastonbury Tor and beyond. A red light at night, on the hill of the view point, can be seen from Dove Retreat, which indicates the high ground for aircraft. Cadbury Castle is just a few miles on from there, a castle site of King Arthur, which is a wonderful tale and I really like to believe he and his knights rode horseback across our fields.
There is an easy 45 minute stroll around the village of Rimpton’s fields. Just follow the public footpath signs in a circle and simply enjoy a stroll in nature. Start at our gate and follow the road under the tree, as in the picture below.
